- 'Truth About Islam' topic of free dinner-lecture

KALAMAZOO--Ustadh Usama Canon will discuss "Clarity in Times of Confusion: The Truth About Islam" during the 12th semiannual installment of a free dinner-lecture series sponsored by the Muslim Students Association of Western Michigan University.
In addition to the keynote address and question-and-answer session, the evening includes a multicultural dinner and multiethnic exhibition beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, in the Bernhard Center East Ballroom. The event is open to the public free of charge, but reservations are required. The popular event typically attracts capacity attendance, and those wishing to attend are encouraged to make reservations online by Wednesday, Feb. 18.

- Islamic Relief comes to aid of homeless, needy here

KALAMAZOO -- A Muslim relief organization hopes to reach out to 700 homeless and needy people in the Kalamazoo area with food and clothing today during its annual Day of Dignity.
The event, being held in Kalamazoo for the second year, will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park, 507 N. Rose St.
Islamic Relief's Day of Dignity food and clothing distribution will coincide with Muslims' obligatory Ramadan fasting. Local Muslims helping to organize and volunteer at the event will be fasting during the day as they help those who are struggling to have their basic needs met.

KALAMAZOO--Humanitarian Day for the Homeless, a one-day community fair, will be held Saturday, Sept. 29, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Martin Luther King Park, N. Rose St., Kalamazoo.
Western Michigan University's Muslim Student Association is among several national and local organizations sponsoring Humanitarian Day activities, which will include free distribution to those in need of hygiene packs, new winter clothing, children's toys, school supplies and other items.
